WE ARE EFFECTIVE
With a passion for achieving that goal and with remarkable boldness, Tim persuaded friends, family and clients to donate toward the effort, and within two months he succeeded in raising $10,000. In February 2006, he traveled to Zimbabwe at his own expense, taking the donated funds with him. There he met Sabira’s brother Bashir Khan, who has become a trusted and resourceful guide and advisor. Tim confirmed that all donations were spent on grain and related expenses, and personally oversaw every step of the process, kept records, and videotaped activities. He began to investigate exactly how to provide clean drinking water and found a reliable contractor who would drill wells, which in Zimbabwe are called boreholes, at a moderate cost. .

Tim has raised over $60,000.00 in cash donations, and developed and continues to expand a network of volunteers who donate professional services both in the United States and in Zimbabwe. After careful preparation, he oversaw construction of three wells in June 2009, one in each of three remote villages that had no access to clean water. A $25,000 grant from a Columbus foundation covered costs of the three wells and additional expenses as well.
English is the official language of Zimbabwe, but other languages are common – one woman interviewed speaks Shona.
